Ok, so i just built a guitar and can't find a wiribg diagram for what i want to do. I want 2 humbuckers, 2 volumes and two tones with no switches. I would select the pickups through the two volumes. Any help? I found a diagram for 2 volunes and two tones with a switch, is there a way to bypass the switch and use that diagram

I agree with Tommy.

The only other concern I have is with standard Les Paul wiring with the selector switch in the middle (both pickups), turning down one volume completely (to zero) cuts out both pickups. This means that in the "middle" position you can't have only one pickup one. Doing as Tommy says (and it IS the thing to do) might give the same effect. There's a way round it but it has its own problems.

As the others have said, I can't see any advantage in wiring a guitar that way and I think it's going to be cumbersom to use.

Yes. Look at this "typical LP wiring diagram" http://www.guitarelectronics.com/product/WD2HH3T22_00/Guitar-Wiring-Diagam-w-2-Humbuckers3-Way-Toggle-Switch2-Volumes2-Tones.html You'll see that the 3-way toggle is the last component before the output jack. The hot wire from each pickup is wired to the 3-way, with one output. All the switch does is select one or both of the pickups. Essentially, what you want to do is "electronically" the same as leaving the 3-way in the middle position where both pickups are active. To bypass the switch, just use the above wiring diagram, and connect the two pickup hot leads directly to the output jack.

Personally, I don't see any advantage to this. You can achieve the same thing by just leaving the 3-way in the center position. In my opinion, the biggest feature missing from this (and all LP setups) is a Master Volume. For my money (which it isn't) I'd get rid of the volume and tone pots entirely. Tone pots just suck tone and are useless. Then, replace the 3-way with a "blend", and then a Master volume. That's everything you need with 2 controls. Much simpler setup that will do exactly the same as trying to blend using two separate volumes. Your choice, of course.....just a friendly suggestion.

Here's a schematic and source for blend pots. This particular one uses a Blend + Master Vol + Tone. http://www.stewmac.com/How-To/Online_Resources/Learn_About_Guitar_Pickups_and_Electronics_and_Wiring/Blend_Pot_Wiring.html

TommyMc has given you the answer. 'Not having a pup selector switch will drive you nuts, once you play well enough to play 'hot with a band - you need to flick it in a fraction of a second, not call for a break while you adjust knobs.
