My life has been so nomadic, I'm not sure which city/area to use. While I was living there, I remember Son House being discovered in a Detroit nursing home. Rev. Robert, host of "Blues From The Lowlands", was big on us helping with Son's care. He really is an ordained Baptist minister (Robert). I used to attend his free acoustic jams at The Soup Kitchen, where he played mandolin.
So, as I await the Synthroid to jumpstart my brain, I'll go with the highly acclaimed and nearly forgotten Wardell Gray of Detroit. His tenor sax oozes the blues and has a nasty bite.

During my years in Clinton, MS, this gent lived a few blocks away from me.

Also from Clinton, these guys were my pals, named for the Barry Hannah novel "Geronimo Rex". Here is "Lipstick", showing their musical craftsmanship. Very talented lads, ruined by a Nashville producer who flattened their sound and removed the rock.

Up here in Grand Forks, I remembered the young uns are proud that local lads Phoenix Rising have charted in the past few months.

Wicked Faith were an up and coming band out of Natchitoches, LA before their guitarist returned to college. Here's another band covering "Rise"
